Yoga with Esme's 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training is back!

The perfect balance between hard work and fun, this is a unique opportunity to learn more about yourself, create a yoga community, and progress passion into profession.

From the very first weekend, you will be teaching, sequencing and body reading. By graduation, you will be able to:

  • Create intelligent sequences with different themes
  • Teach, structure and modify your own yoga classes to suit different ability and needs
  • Guide meditation and pranayama sessions
  • Understand human anatomy and physiology at a basic level, therefore able to identify issues within the body and correct them
  • Understand, at a basic level, how to prevent injuries in yoga and give options on how to troubleshoot them
  • Basic  knowledge of Ayurveda applied to daily life
  • Create a safe space for students in order to relax
  • Set up your own successful business with a clear vision and niche

While the course will focus on vinyasa yoga, a new style of yoga will be introduced each month. In the past, these styles have included ashtanga, forest, yin, restorative, budakon, chair yoga, kundalini, and partner yoga, as well as yoga specifically for athletes, beginners and menopause. The course will also cover myofascial release, pranayama and meditation.

This course includes a printed manual with all the practices that you are required to learn.

PLEASE NOTE: The History & Philosophy manual and the Anatomy & Physiology course with Dr. Yogi are both digital. You will not receive a printed copy of this.

Upon receipt of your application, you will be contacted via e-mail within two weeks to let you know fi you have been officially accepted.

A 200-hour YTT course is like a bachelor’s degree. It gives you a broad foundation of basic yoga knowledge to get you started in the industry and, though it focuses on one main form of yoga, insight into other forms of yoga which you can then go and take dedicated courses in. 200-hours is the minimum studios, gyms and other professionals look for when hiring yoga teachers.

You don’t need to do the course with the intention of teaching. For most people who enrol, it’s simply to deepen their knowledge. If you love yoga, are eager to learn more about it and develop your regular practice, then this course is perfect for you. Whether or not you teach afterwards is up to you, but you’ll learn a lot about yourself and  your own self practice in the meantime.

You will have a lot of teaching practice during the course both in small groups and in teaching sequences to the entire class. You are encouraged to practice teaching your friends and family as a way of gaining confidence, especially if you are planning on turning teaching into your profession.

Your final assessment also requires you to teach an hour long class to the group.

To receive your certificate of completion, Yoga Alliance Professionals require you to have 100% attendance. This includes arriving on time and staying for the duration of the class.
However, we understand that life doesn’t always go as planned. Should you need to leave early, arrive late or miss a day, we ask that you get in contact as soon as possible to let us know. We can then arrange with you a one-to-one private mentoring outside of training hours.

Homework typically takes one to two hours a week. In addition to homework, there is required daily meditation and pranayama practice. Both combined will last thirty minutes a day. You will also be required to attend at least two yoga classes per week outside of the course, and one with Yoga with Esme.

The cost of books is not included in the tuition price, but we have partnered up with independent bookstores across Edinburgh to help you find the books you need for a good price. For prices and more information, please contact one of the booksellers provided in this welcome pack. They’ll be happy to help.

The cost of your training manual is included in the price of the course but, should you lose your copy and require another one, you will be charged a sum of £50.

Unfortunately not. However, we have a brilliant network of people who can help you, so if you require further help, let us know and we’ll see who we can get you in touch with.

You’ll be glad to hear that we can work with injuries. Just as you’ll have to in the classes you teach in the not-so-distant future, we’ll be adapting for you.
